I am currently interested in the intersection between health and
social control, especially as it relates to psychiatry and gender
construction. A specific area of questioning involves the taxonomy of
psychiatric and psychological diagnoses on the
normal-abnormal/sick-well continuum, and what affect powerful
structures and institutions have on this taxonomy.

I am interested in contemporary sociological theory, social epistemology and ontology, and gender theory. My dissertation will be a study of concept-formation in sociology, using the concept of gender as an example of both success and failure. I plan to (atempt to) devise a new/better/more productive heuristic of how the world enters into concept and how sociologists then seek to use concepts to re-enter the world into sociological knowledge.
