David Tumilowicz is the publisher of Hawaii Business, Hawaii’s only monthly business magazine and the nation’s oldest regional business publication. In his role as Publisher, Tumilowicz is responsible for overseeing all operations of the magazine, as well as managing external relations with key clients and organizations including chambers of commerce, universities, and other strategic business partners. Tumilowicz is a member of the executive management team for Pacific Basin Communications, Hawaii’s largest locally-owned media company and parent company of Hawaii Business. At Hawaii Business, Tumilowicz has initiated new programs including a conference for Hawaii businesswomen, now in its third year; an annual awards program for Hawaii’s top 100 residential Realtors; and “Twenty People to Watch,” which focuses attention on emerging business and community leaders who will impact Hawaii’s future. Tumilowicz has a background in academia, with a focus on the social sciences and avenues for social change. He holds a BA in sociology from the Pennsylvania State University. He earned his Masters degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Tumilowicz also completed his coursework toward a doctoral degree, including an original research project that examined opportunities for environmental change in suburban communities in New Jersey. He has extensive college teaching experience at both Rutgers and Hawaii Pacific University.
