Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology, College of William and Mary
Shruti Devgan received her B.A. in sociology from Lady Shriram College, Delhi University, and M.A. and M.Phil. in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She earned her Ph.D. in sociology from Rutgers University in 2015. She will join the faculty at the College of William and Mary as a Visiting Assistant Professor in August 2016. She studies culture, collective memory and trauma, media and transnational flows, narratives and emotions with a focus on the Sikh diaspora and South Asia. She is especially interested in making sociological work accessible to broader audiences. She teaches courses on introductory sociology, contemporary theory, culture and media, institutions and inequalities.
