Olivia’s research interests lie at the intersection of sociology of work, technology, and international migration. Her current focus lies in examining the impact of platformization and automation of labor, particularly within service industries. In her previous research, she has explored the role of migrant labor in the gig economy, with a specific emphasis on studying how resident and work permits influence the lives of migrant gig workers engaging in food delivery, cleaning, and taxi services. Olivia received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Helsinki. She also holds a B.A. and M.A. in Art Education from Aalto University of Art, Design and Architecture. She was awarded a Fulbright graduate grant for the academic year 2023-2024.
